2. Participation
2.1 Each National Federation affiliated
to the European Chess Union (ECU) can enter a national
team of four (4) players and one (1) reserve. For the
Women’s event, each federation can enter another
team of four (4) women players and one (1) reserve.
2.2 In order to ensure proper tournament
standards and possible visa invitations, all European
federations must submit their registrations and hotel
bookings to the Organising Committee one month before
the event, by 27 September 2007 (registration deadline).
3. ECU entry fees
3.1 In accordance with ECU regulations
an entry fee of 260 EUR is required for each national
team and another 260 EUR for each women’s national
team.
3.2 The entry fees shall be paid directly
to ECU. The invoices will be sent to each federation immediately
after the championship.
4. Registration
and Travel conditions
4.1 Entry forms must be filled from the
National Federations and returned to the Organising Committee
no later than 27 September 2007. This date is the registration
deadline. Any correction
on the basic list of players can be made until the Captain’s
Meeting.
4.2 The complete registration form must
include the surname/s, first name/s, FIDE ID number, FIDE
rating and title, and passport number of each player and
each accompanying person. It must also include the name
and telephone/e-mail/fax number of the Chief of Delegation,
the person in charge of the Federation and the Team Captains.
4.3 All travel and accommodation expenses
of the teams must be paid by their National Federation.
5. Hotel - Playing
Hall
5.1 Accommodation and full board will
be provided in the official hotel of the event Creta Maris,
a 5-star conference hotel leased by the Organising Committee,
on the beach 23 km east of Heraklion airport, which will
also be the tournament venue. The playing hall's capacity
(2800 sq. m.) will be for 900 players and spectators.
5.2 Hotel payments in full for all players
and accompanying persons must be made on arrival in Heraklio.
All bills of hotel accommodation shall be settled and
paid before the start of the 1st round.
5.3 All teams and participants shall
make use of the official hotel for their accommodation
(ECU GA 2003).
5.4 Every team has to pay a registration cost of 35 EUR for each participant
/ coach / accompanying person which includes free transfer
from and to the Heraklio airport at arrival and departure
dates. This payment is obligatory for all and its
prepayment represents a confirmation of participation.

7. System of play
The European Team Championship shall be held on the Swiss
system in 9 rounds, with one general section and one section
for the women's teams, considered as separate competitions.
According to FIDE rules, the time control will be
90 min for 40 moves + 30 min for the rest of the game
+ 30 sec increment for every move played starting from the first move.
8. Tournament
bulletin
Each federation is entitled to three (3) free bulletins
per round. Additional bulletins will be on sale.
